The small island of Balamb is located between the continents of Galbadia, Esthar and Trabia. It's lush landscape of green is dotted with small towns and villages.
The Grand Duchy of Dollet is found on the north-eastern coast of Galbadia. Dollet, the capital city, is a prosperous place, host to many of the world's richest, thanks to the low taxes. Formerly under Galbadian occupation, the country is again independent. Accessible by sea from Balamb Town.
Situated by the coast of south-eastern Galbadia, Timber is a small industrial town currently under Galbadian occupation, yet popular with Garden students. Timber can be reached by a train journey from Balamb Town, providing a connection to the continent.
The southernmost continent, Centra is nearly barren to human life, instead inhabited almost solely by beasts of all kinds besides the sorceress city of Mesmiera. Centra's lonely tranquillity can be explained by a Lunar Cry that devastated the land along with the Centran race of people.
This western continent consists of three nations: Galbadia, the largest and most powerful; the Grandy Duchy of Dollet (see Local Destinations); and Galbadian occupied Timber (Local Destinations).
Occupying most of the great eastern continent, Esthar is a nation where the population almost entirely inhabits just one city: Esthar City, a vast hi-tech metropolis. The rest of the country is mostly stripped of its resources, leaving the countryside like a wasteland.
North of Esthar on the eastern continent, Trabia has the coldest of the planet's climates. Some of its stunning untouched mountain peaks feel snow all year round. Trabia is split into a number of cantons, where government is almost entirely autonomous from the capital city, Hawkind.
Half way across the ocean railway bridge that connects Galbadia and Esthar lies the port town of Fisherman's Horizon. Built on a small island, FH is a friendly and tranquil place, though boldly independent.
